This game rocks!!!!!!!!!!
I remember playing this in the arcade(under the title "monster land" BTW)
was this "monster land" version a bootleg or something? I suppose it was due to neither SEGA, westone, or any
company had thier name listed on the title screen. instead, it plainly red (c)1987. oh well.

The absolute BEST SMS game ever. I was inspired to go out to plaza video to rent this back in the day
after sighting the ad for this(and various other games) in the feburary 1991 game players magazine. since then, i've never looked back.
cool japanese designs. the ending's great too.

here's a unique easter egg(anyone say that anymore?)
anyway,this only works on first gen SMS with NO games built in
to the system at all. first, plug in another game.turn the power on, and wait for
the game's title scren to appear.then(with the power still on) Quickly pull the game out and
replace it with penguin land. then the SEGA mark III logo will appear on the screen inatead of
the SMS logo. the game will boot up as "penguin rando:uuchidaibouken"
translation: penguin land:great space adventure.

a bit of info:in japan,this wasn't even an alex kidd game.in its place,they got some
alex kidd "BMX trial" game(no joke)the original version of this was called "princess animitsu",and the lead character
was a little geisha girl.it was apparently based on a then-famous anime series,which was probably never officially released in the states(bootleg fansubs maybe?)

this game rocks!!this was ultimately better than super mario fuckers or wahtever the hell nintendo's "hot game of the week" was during the 80's.it took me a fucking wekk to beat SMB,and i still haven't got the total hang of tghis game.too bad SEGA nevr re-made this game for the dreamcast,and now they're nearly gone.serves you right Bernie "gayass" stolar!!!!
